NDVS will host the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs (NASDVA) Annual Training Conference at the Peppermill in Reno from September 12-15. This year, the State Directors for Veterans Departments in 43 States and Territories are participating. This event brings together national and state representatives from across America, including executives from the national Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as leaders from business, industry, public authorities, research and other sectors to discuss ways to strengthen State Veterans Departments and to learn the newest issues and challenges facing veterans currently. The event provides an opportunity for open collaboration among members, government agencies, and businesses that have an interest in sustaining, improving, and providing benefits and services to the men and women who have served our country.
NASDVA is an organization dating back to 1946, following World War II. Many veterans earned state and federal benefits which required coordinated efforts to ensure veterans received those earned entitlements. NASDVA formed after states developed a department or agency to specifically manage veterans’ affairs. The organization represents all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
