Outreach Director Evan Rush has been named the August 2021 Employee Veteran of the Month for the State of Nevada.
Mr. Rush is a retired as a Chief Master of Arms with the U.S. Navy. As NDVS Outreach Director, he is responsible for maintaining supportive connections with Veteran Service Organizations across Nevada that include State, District, and local Veterans Posts and Chapters.
Mr. Rush’s superb collaboration with these organizations, and with community supporters, resulted in the ability of the State of Nevada to better assess the needs of veterans and their families and to connect them with needed resources. His outstanding performance of duty has helped NDVS keep a pulse on the needs of veterans, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenge of isolation it posed.
“When the pandemic limited our face-to-face outreach abilities, Evan took it upon himself to think ‘outside the box’ so we could continue to enhance the lives of the veterans and families we serve,” said Kat Miller, NDVS Director. “Evan is very deserving of this recognition as he embodies the passion of a true public servant and sets a great example as both an NDVS and State of Nevada team member.”
According to his supervisor, NDVS Deputy Director of Operations Fred Wagar, “Evan never hesitates to bring his problem solving and leadership skills to table, no matter how challenging the task. We feel he is a tremendous asset to our department and valued member of a very talented NDVS team.”
The Employee Veteran of the Month award initiative began in January 2021 and each month an employee veteran is recognized by the Nevada Department of Administration Director and the Administrator of the Division of Human Resource Management.
