Glow Surrounds Northern Nevada’s Gold Star Memorial During Luminary Event

The last Sunday in September is set aside by Presidential proclamation as Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day. The National Day of Recognition encourages communities or groups to come together to honor those who have lost a loved one serving in the U.S. military.

This year, the National Day of Recognition fell on Sunday, September 25th and approximately 50 people, including Gold Star family members, gathered next to the Northern Nevada Gold Star Memorial, located outside the State Veterans Home in Sparks, Nevada to participate in a Luminary Event. The lighting of a luminary lets these families know we stand with them and that they are never alone.

We thank KTNV, Channel 2 News in Reno for their live coverage of the event. We also thank the community for their support. To the Gold Star Moms, Parents and Families, we know we owe a debt we can never repay, and we will never forget.

We encourage you to view the photos of the event and keep these families and their lost one in your thoughts and prayers.
