COVID Resources

The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) has compiled the following list of COVID resources and updates. We stand together during this unprecedented time to support each other and to share information important to veterans and their families. While many are struggling during this time, the lists below contain mental health resource links , as well as employment, food assistance, housing and more. Please know this list is not exhaustive. Many of the resource links below also offer lists of resources. If you know of a great resource not listed, please send the information, including the link, to pio.ndvs@veterans.nv.gov.

Nevada Health Response

Nevada Health Response is a one-stop-shop resource from announcements to information on where to apply for SNAP benefits or where to take the children to get a meal along with the NV Health Response Community Resources list that can provide more information on additonal services.

Governor’s Flag Program for Deployed Troops

The Governor’s State Flag Program allows for family members, friends, and supporters to request from the Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) a Nevada State Flag that has been authenticated to have been flown over the Nevada State Capitol to be shipped to a Nevada service member or unit deployed abroad. 

Please know that we are only able to fulfill requests for flags sent to deployed troops. We are not able to fulfill other requests based on the Executive Order (PDF) governing this program.

Military OneSource

Military OneSource is a confidential Department of Defense-funded program providing comprehensive information on every aspect of military life at no cost to active duty, Guard and Reserve Component members, and their families. Information includes, but is not limited to, deployment, reunion, relationship, grief, spouse employment and education, parenting and childhood, and much more.

Military OneSource has policy and programmatic information, helpful resources, products, articles and tips on numerous topics related to military life. Confidential services are available 24 hours a day by telephone and online. In addition to the website support, Military OneSource offers confidential call center and online support for consultations on a number of issues such as spouse education and career opportunities, issues specific to families with a member with special needs, health coaching, financial support, and resources.

Military OneSource also offers confidential non-medical counseling services online, via telephone, or face to face. Eligible individuals may receive confidential non-medical counseling addressing issues requiring short-term attention, including everyday stressors, deployment and reintegration concerns, parenting, grief and loss, and marital problems as well as assistance with financial management, taxes, career services, health and wellness, and much more. This personalized support is available 24/7 no matter where you live or serve.

Preparing for the Inevitable (PDF) by the Military and Friends Club, Sun City, Summerlin helps you get your affairs in order to reduce stress when one passes away. This helpful document was initially intended for southern Nevadans and omits the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, which is an option for Nevadans who live in the north. Additionally there is no cost for veteran's interment and a $450 fee (subject to change) for dependents at both veterans' cemeteries.

VA - Serving Nevada Veterans

Please prepare for a visit: everyone entering VA facilities is screened, and visitors are limited. Face coverings are mandatory. Please contact your branch of the VA first before going to any of their locations. For some needs, veterans may be able to get care at home by phone or video.
