Celebrating the 18th Anniversary of the SNSVH

On Saturday, August 22, the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) in Boulder City celebrated its 18th anniversary with a drive-thru celebration.  This celebration was open to both family members of residents and the local community, they were asked to decorate their vehicles, play music and blow noisemakers.  Many participants came in their cars, motorcycles, and on bicycles. The train from the Nevada State Railroad Museum that runs nearby also partook in the celebration and blew horns as it rode by.

The SNSVH opened in 2002 with the first veterans admitted in August of that year. Located 23 miles southeast of Las Vegas in Boulder City, Nevada. SNSVH is a state-owned and state-operated facility receiving support from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The 82,000-square-foot facility can accommodate 180 residents in three living units called neighborhoods. It includes one unit with 24-beds providing two levels of secured care living for individuals suffering from advanced cognitive impairment. Each neighborhood has dedicated staff providing 24-hour skilled nursing care with a clinical team committed to “Caring for America’s Heroes".

“For all of us at SNSVH, every day is a new day, a new challenge and a new learning experience,” said Eli Quinones, SNSVH Administrator. “Each day is an opportunity to serve those who served us with much sacrifice."
