March Observances to Improve Your Health  


There are three observances during the month of March designed to help you focus on improving your health. There are three national observances for nutrition, colorectal cancer awareness, and women and girls’ HIV/AIDS awareness. Hope you find the resources and information below helpful! 

National Nutrition Month® 

  • This observance focuses on sustainable and healthy eating habits. This year’s theme is “Beyond the Table”, which highlights the farm-to-fork approach to nutrition, from food production to eating habits.  
  • Check out information and resources from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to learn more! Also, check out the My Healthfinder resources on healthy eating and physical activity.  

National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month 

  • This March, spread the word about the importance of getting regular colorectal cancer screenings, starting at age 45 years. Share the National Cancer Institute’s colorectal cancer resources.   
  • * Gastrointestinal Cancer of any type is a presumptive condition for on or after Sept. 11, 2001 in Afghanistan, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Uzbekistan, or Yemen or if you served in the *Southwest Asia theater of operations, or Somalia, on or after Aug. 2, 1990 
  • * Cancer of the small intestine & colon is a presumptive condition for atomic veterans exposed to ionizing radiation 

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (3/10) 

  • Join the Office on Women’s Health (OWH) in observing National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 10, 2024.
