- Nevada Transition Assistance Program (NVTAP)
Thank you all for your interest in last month’s article on this terrific program that fills an important gap for veterans in need of dental care. If or any reason you missed it, click HERE to read it.
The Veterans Administration has strict guidelines as to who is eligible for treatment of dental issues. However, for low-income veterans residing in the state of Nevada, this is a problem that has a solution: the Adopt a Vet Dental Program.
With the Adopt a Vet Program’s (AAVD) recent expansion to Clark County, AAVD has now become the state’s primary resource for low-income veterans who do not qualify for VA dental care to access treatment and restoration. AAVD has intake offices in Reno and Las Vegas and has developed partnerships in all 17 Nevada counties to provide this much needed service.
As a nonprofit organization, AAVD worked to identify dentists and specialists in local communities who are willing to provide services to veterans free-of-charge. Since 2010, they have provided dental care to more than 1,500 veterans totaling more than 7-million dollars in donated treatment. In 2017, the Adopt a Vet Dental Program was recognized for its work when it was selected as the Veteran Supporter of the Month. Instead of resting on laurels, the nonprofit has pressed the gas pedal to the floor and worked to connect with and help more veterans.
For veterans wanting to use this program, please call the closest local office closest to you.
