Congratulations to the recipients of the Veteran of the Month, Veteran Supporter of the Month and new Youth Serving Veterans Award who were honored and recognized during a special ceremony in Las Vegas in September.
The recipients are as follows:
Race to Erase 22 is an all-volunteer nonprofit made up of civilians, active-duty and veterans, off-road racers and veteran advocates who volunteer to raise awareness about suicide prevention, resources, and treatments.
Mr. Heintzelman served 22 years in the U.S. Army. He is a purple heart and bronze star medal recipient who now helps airmen at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.
Ms. Surwill is the first recipient of the Serving Veterans Youth Award. She began volunteering before high school and is currently a senior at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She currently holds the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, which is the second highest rank achievable in the Civil Air Patrol with more than 3700 volunteer hours.
